New 2025

I have been working for the past couple of years on a new updated and expanded second edition of my book. Soon to be available as an ebook.

Preface to the second edition

It has been more than thirteen years since the first edition of this book was published.
Feedback from our readers and the fact that the original edition has since gone out of print prompted me to prepare a completely revised second edition for release as an eBook.
Since 2012, I have continued to learn more about this delightful subject which has provided a wealth of updated information, and images for this second edition. I have added links to online references which will be useful for those interested in reading the original sources. Its content reflects an extensive revision of the original edition. Some chapters have been re-written, and certain subjects which were inadequately dealt with previously have been corrected and expanded.
I have added additional references and removed some errors found in the original text. I have added a chapter about the initial peopling of America, dedicated a chapter to our lake-by-lake description of aquatic creatures, and completely overhauled Part V, which now has three chapters instead of one and is better structured.
I hope that the book is entertaining and will continue to appeal to those with an interest in Patagonia, its history, people, and legendary beings.
